City of Rancho Cordova Pedestrian Facilities Study

In order to provide safe and usable walkways and to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations including ADA requirements, the City of Rancho Cordova created a master plan for physical pedestrian improvements.  Before developing the transition plan, they conducted an inventory of the existing pedestrian facilities in public thoroughfares.

The study team of 23 researchers used Pendragon Forms and handheld computers to gather data over five months.  They collected measurements, dimensions, gradients on more than 72 miles of streets, 700 intersections and 1600 street corners.
