An animal anti-cruelty and
rescue center in Ireland provides services for hundreds of animals
including dogs, hamsters, cats, rabbits, birds, and donkeys.
Before using handhelds, paper
cards were used to record data for each animal including medical
treatment and home placement status.
In order to increase their operational efficiency and time available for
the animals, the animal center decided to automate data collection.
A consultant specializing in charity systems, JA Computer Solutions (JAC)
used Pendragon Forms to develop PDA applications to extend their
SANCTURease animal adoption database product.
Animal care providers at the center now use Handspring Treo devices to collect data. Five forms are used for animal assessments, home visits
and medical reports. Data is synchronized to
a central database,
reducing the amount of time required for processing.
